In the summer of 1985, 11-year-old Randall McKenna had a kayaking accident on the Niagara River. While submerged beneath the water's surface, he felt the presence of something near him - something cold and evil. Ever since that day, he has been haunted by the call of the thing in the river, a call that may have lured thousands to their deaths through the centuries. When Randall meets a woman who says she has actually seen the thing, he must face his deepest fears to protect her and try to prevent an impending tragedy on the Niagara.
