Augmented reality or altered reality? What begins as a game soon spirals into something far more complex. This sci-fi thriller explores the entanglement of worlds as an alternate reality begins to infiltrate our own. A group of unlikely gamer friends embarks on a quest to piece together their memories and restore their reality. Zander Branch, an expert in collectible card games, faces a mundane future of delivering pizzas and attending community college, with only the launch of Mirror, an augmented reality game with real prize money, to look forward to. Everything changes when Tokyo Kim enters The High Castle, their local gaming hub, holding a mysterious card featuring a mythical creature from an unknown game. Initially a minor puzzle, the situation escalates when Zander's friend Davies vanishes, leaving only Zander and Tokyo Kim with any memory of him. As reality shifts around them, Zander questions his sanity and the role of Tokyo Kim. With friends Waylin Strong and Tonya Book, he must navigate the challenges posed by tech giants and government agencies. This story delves into friendship and coming of age, humorously exploring the intersection of gaming culture, the history of video games, and quantum physics.
