Sharing A Fly Wing: A Memoir of Growing Up on Virgin Gorda, British Virgin Islands
    • The author has written a memoir of her life as she remembers it, growing up on an undeveloped island in the 1950's. She talks about survival without any modern conveniences, but mostly about the bonds of family and friendship, the roles that children played in the family dynamics and the innocence of that time. She describes in great detail the delightful cuisine created from foods she grew with her family. She also recalls the poignancy of losing three of her siblings to death at very young ages and describes watching her parents cope with the loss although she was too young to fully understand what the loss meant. Black & white photos.
