Základní práce francouzského medievalisty, autora i u nás známé vynikající knihy Neděle u Bouvines, přináší jedinečný a u nás zcela netradiční pohled na dějiny středověkého umění. Katedrála jako sociální prostor, v němž se v nejrozvinutější podobě uplatnily dobové představy o uspořádání středověkého světa i vesmíru, Dubymu posloužila jako středobod uvažování o době mezí 8. až 14. stoletím, především v prostředí západní Evropy. Velká klasická pohádka s neobyčejným hrdinou – dřevěným panáčkem s dlouhým nosem – se proslavila po celém světě. Panáček, kterého vyřezal pan Geppetto z polínka a pojmenoval ho Pinocchio, ožil a podstoupil neuvěřitelná dobrodružství, z nichž mnohdy vyvázl jen taktak. Dostal se do loutkového divadla, mezi loupežníky, k víle Modrovlásce, do vězení, na ostrov včel, a dokonce i do žralokova žaludku. Svého tatínka se takovým putováním dost natrápil, ale nakonec ho velmi překvapil…

Filippo Tommaso Marinettis Manifeste des Futurismus, veröffentlicht am 20. Februar 1909 im Pariser Figaro, gilt als Initialzündung der europäischen Avantgardebewegungen und hatte eine ungeheure Folgewirkung. Nejvyzrálejší román populárního belgického autora, za který mimo jiné získal prestižní čtenářskou cenu, souběžně vypráví dva příběhy, jejichž jediným spojovacím článkem je zpočátku jen fakt, že se oba odehrávají v bytě ve čtvrtém patře. Zápletka se zajímavě zamotává a postavy si kladou aktuální otázky (jak uživím rodinu, kde seženu byt a práci), jež jsou v rámci autorovy groteskní poetiky často dovedeny ad absurdum a vyvolávají mrazivý smích i vedou k zamyšlení nad dnešním světem.
