Dieser Band enthält eine Sammlung von vierzehn Landes- und Kulturberichten zum Status und zur Schutzwürdigkeit des In-vitro-Embryos aus dem inner- und außereuropäischen Ausland, erstellt von sachkundigen Experten aus den Bereichen der Rechtswissenschaft und der Ethik. Die Beiträge stellen nicht nur die Rechtslage zu den einschlägigen Sachgebieten dar, sondern untersuchen auch die rechtsethischen, politischen und tatsächlichen Hintergründe der jeweiligen Regelungen. The individual's role as a "subject" in national proceedings becomes ambiguous when extradition or international cooperation is needed in domestic criminal cases. This analysis moves beyond the traditional two-dimensional framework of the requesting and requested states to explore a more comprehensive three-dimensional perspective. The authors argue that if individuals possess subjective, substantive, and procedural rights—whether from international treaties or municipal law, particularly constitutional guarantees—then the legal relationships involved cannot be viewed as merely two-dimensional. The focus extends beyond extradition to encompass various forms of international cooperation in criminal matters, including the enforcement of sanctions. The topic of "choice of forum" emerges as particularly significant. Additionally, the examination of international administrative cooperation reveals critical gray areas, such as police collaboration and tax-related international cooperation. Albin Eser, Professor at the University of Freiburg and LLM (New York University), is the Emeritus Director of the Max Planck Institute for Foreign and International Criminal Law and served as a Judge at the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia (2004 – 2006). He has received numerous accolades, including the Federal Cross of Merit and several honorary doctorates, and is a board member of various national and international organizations. The collection emphasizes a key aspect of Eser's extensive scholarly work, featuring 31 articles in German and English. These contributions, originally published in various global journals, are not easily accessible without this compilation. The collection provides insights into four significant areas of Transnational Criminal Law: Comparative Criminal Law, Transnational Criminal Jurisdiction, International Cooperation in Criminal Matters, and International Criminal Law, making them available to a wider audience interested in international legal studies.

The "Groupe d'Etats contre la corruption" (GRECO) is established at the Council of Europe. GRECO evaluates in several steps the legislative and administrative instruments of its member states in the fight against corruption, and thus makes obligatory suggestions for improvement. Based on the "First Evaluation Round", this study compares the corruption-relevant national regulations of the criminal law and names their weaknesses. Moreover, the book analyzes in which way law enforcement agencies are organized and which authorities are available in the fight against corruption. Additionally, the immunity regulations-which could particularly stand contrary to the fight against corruption in the political sector-are evaluated. Institutions against Corruption systematizes the recommendations passed by GRECO, judges their coherence, and ventures a first assessment. Readers interested in corruption fighting will not only gain comparative legal insights, but also prospects on the recommendations with which GRECO intends to improve the fight against corruption in 35 of its member states.
