Bei seiner Ankunft im Osten wurden die Oberkirchenräte sofort zusammengerufen. „Taube ist da“, lautete der Code. Der heute 80-jährige Pfarrer i. R. Gerd Meyer war in den 70er und 80er Jahren als Grenzgänger für die evangelische Kirche tätig. Auf höchster Ebene diente er der Übermittlung von Nachrichten zwischen den evangelischen Kirchenleitungen in West- und Ostdeutschland. Um abgehörte Telefongespräche und kontrollierte Post zu umgehen, überschritt er unzählige Male die Grenze zwischen West- und Ostberlin und nahm Mitteilungen, Botschaften sowie Aufgaben persönlich entgegen. „Der Einsatz war hoch“, beschreibt er seine brisante Tätigkeit. „Wenn ich geschnappt worden wäre, hätte ich selbst zusehen müssen, wie ich klarkomme.“ Noch riskanter war seine Organisation von Material- und Büchertransporten im großen Stil über die innerdeutsche Grenze. Heute, 25 Jahre nach dem Mauerfall, erzählt er erstmals Einzelheiten in seinem Buch „Grenzgänger der evangelischen Kirche“.

Unaufhörlich klappern die Schiefern, die Dach und Wände des kleinen Hauses bedecken. Wenn der Wind anhält, geht das tagelang so. In der Rosenau liegt es, am Rande des Städtchens, nah an den bewaldeten Bergen, von ihnen nur durch eine weite ansteigende Wiese getrennt. Es klappert unaufhörlich, selbst bei wenig Wind. Und Wind gibt es fast immer. Zum Ärger des Großvaters. Er wird nicht müde, darüber zu lamentieren. Das Haus ist das letzte einer kleinen Siedlung und den Winden aus allen Himmelsrichtungen ungeschützt ausgesetzt. Nacht ist es. Ich liege im Bett im Schlafzimmer der Großeltern und lausche dem Klappern der Schiefer. Es ist von beängstigender Lautstärke. Ich kuschele mich tief in die Bettdecke und fühle mich geborgen. Tags stehe ich am Küchenfenster auf Großmutters Fußbank und schaue im kleinen Hof auf Schafe und Ziegen, auf emsig pickende Hühner. Sie gehören Liebetraus, die über den Großeltern wohnen. Großvater sägt oder hackt Holz und stapelt es im Holzschuppen. Im kleinen Garten schafft Großmutter. Es ist die Zeit nach Kriegsende. Ich wohne bei den Großeltern. Die Mutter ist gestorben, der Vater vermisst.
