Im Rahmen seines Förderprogramms für Informations- und Kommunikationstechnologien (IKT 2020) unterstützt das Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung (BMBF) Forschungsaktivitäten auf dem Gebiet von „Elektronik, Design und Anwendungen“. Neben der Ergebnispräsentation abgeschlossener und laufender IKT 2020-Projekte werden auf dem edaWorkshop wissenschaftliche Beiträge in Vorträgen und Postern sowie Demonstratoren und Prototypen vorgestellt. Dabei steht im Einklang mit IKT 2020 der Anwendungsbezug zu gesellschaftlich relevanten Themen im Vordergrund. Aus den eingereichten Vorschlägen hat ein Programmkomitee führender EDAExperten aus Industrie und Forschung 9 Beiträge ausgewählt, die in diesem Tagungsband veröffentlicht werden.

In order to stimulate EDA research activities to deal with these challenges the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) has established an R& D program to design platforms for application oriented complex systems and circuits. This program is a component of BMBF? s research program IKT 2020. The edaWorkshop is a central forum to exchange information concerning approaches and results of IKT 2020 projects.

The edaWorkshop is the premier German EDA event for the publication and discussion of application-oriented EDA research findings. As every two years, also 2015 the edaWorkshop15 will co-locate and share a common day - including keynotes, sessions and the social event - with the annual CATRENE Design Technology Conference (DTC). The CATRENE Design Technology Conference (CATRENE DTC) is the meeting point of Europe s scientists and experts in application-oriented design. Both events are attracting European experts in industry and academia and consequently the organizers decided to co-locate the workshop and the conference every two years.
