Face recognition

En savoir plus sur le livre

The NATO Advanced Study Institute (ASI) on Face Recognition: From Theory to Applications was held in Stirling, Scotland, from June 23 to July 4, 1997, with 95 participants, including 18 invited lecturers from 22 countries. These leading researchers from academia, government, and industry provided a comprehensive overview of face recognition, highlighting future trends and strategies for developing robust systems. The scientific program featured invited lectures, three panels, and presentations from students. Engaging discussions led to the identification of key themes: (i) human processing of face recognition and its relevance to forensic systems, (ii) face coding, (iii) connectionist methods and support vector machines (SVM), (iv) hybrid methods, and (v) predictive learning and performance evaluation. The panels aimed to connect the lectures and emphasize these themes, addressing topics such as how the human visual system processes faces, challenges in applying face recognition (including databases, evaluation, and systems), and classification issues. Student presentations offered valuable feedback from invited lecturers, fostering suggestions for future research directions.
