En savoir plus sur le livre
Since the first international meeting on Vitamin B6's role in catalysis in 1962, periodic gatherings have occurred every three or four years. In 1990, researchers studying the cofactor PQQ, noted for its potential in amino acid decarboxylation and amino group reactions, collaborated with those focused on pyridoxal phosphate-dependent enzymes. This led to the joint international PQQ/quinoproteins meetings. Over the years, these scientific gatherings have been held in various locations, including Moscow (1966), Nagoya (1967), Leningrad (1974), Toronto (1979), Athens (1983), Turku (1987), Osaka (1990), and Capri (1996). Notably, the first meeting in the United States took place from October 31 to November 5, 1999, in Santa Fe, New Mexico. The scientific program expanded its focus from catalysis to include cellular and genetic regulation of proteins requiring pyridoxal phosphate or quinoproteins. The growing recognition of these proteins' roles in biotechnology and their implications in diseases was highlighted, particularly regarding the molecular basis of these processes. This meeting was designated symposium S278 and was sponsored by the International Union of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (IUBMB).
