En savoir plus sur le livre

The present volume analyzes the frontiers of broadband, electronic, and mobile commerce markets. High-capacity mobile telecommunication networks have led to new services like SMS and Internet banking. The growth of mobile Internet infrastructure and subscriptions has laid the foundation for e-commerce development. Recent research on broadband networks is forward-looking, focusing on forecasting Internet telephony adoption and the future structure of retail markets. The broadband regime raises concerns about identifying appropriate standards and ensuring universal service delivery. Regulation, pricing, and investment decisions are crucial in a landscape of continuous innovation. The volume is divided into five parts: e-commerce business models; network technology and productivity; demand and pricing; market growth, regulation, and investment; and issues related to development imperatives. Its structure reflects themes discussed at the International Telecommunications Society's Asia-Australasian Regional Conference on "Mcbusiness, E-commerce and the Impact of Broadband on Regional Development and Business Prospects," held in Perth, Australia, from June 22-24, 2003. The volume includes selected papers from the conference and four additional invited contributions by Jerry Hausman, Jeffery Bernstein and Charles Zarkadas, M. Ishaq Nadiri and Banani Nandi, and Glenn Woroch.
