Balancing acts

Born in 1943 Peter Henisch has become a highly significant and prolific voice among contemporary Austrian authors. In an early essay Henisch writes of the need to produce a literature of possibilities, and this principle has continued to inform his writing right up to the present.-- The essays constituting this volume present possible ways of reading the myriad forms of Henisch's literature of possibilities; they explore and illuminate the multiple thematic and structural balancing acts that characterize Henisch's prose and poetry.
