Berlin's history spans over eight centuries, but its contemporary urban landscape is largely defined by 19th and 20th-century structures. Featuring 466 architectural works from 1907 to the present, the selected examples illustrate a rich progression and the impact of significant social movements on the city's architecture. The texts and images aim to capture the essence of each period in Berlin's diverse architectural history. The works presented are emblematic of the 'modern age' and 'Neues Bauen,' forming a visual manifesto that creates a unique 20th-century architectural collage. Rolf Rave, an architect based in Berlin, draws from a family legacy in architecture and art history, including his father's influential role in the Berlin art scene.
