This volume of Springer’s Lecture Notes in Computer Science features the scientific proceedings from the 10th International Workshop on Digital Mammography (IWDM), held from June 16–18, 2010, in Girona, Catalonia. The IWDM meetings unite a diverse group of researchers, including physicists, mathematicians, computer scientists, engineers, and clinicians, all dedicated to advancing technology that aids in the early detection and management of breast cancer. The conference series began in 1993 at the SPIE Medical Imaging Symposium in San Jose, CA, with subsequent meetings occurring biennially in various locations, including York, Chicago, Nijmegen, Toronto, Bremen, Durham, Manchester, and Tucson. Each event has featured successful industrial and research exhibits showcasing the progress in digital mammography. For this workshop, 141 paper submissions from 21 countries were received. Each four-page abstract underwent a blind review by at least two members of the Scientific Committee, culminating in the selection of 46 oral presentations and 57 posters over the course of the two and a half days of scientific sessions.
