Tüll ist ein dichter, fast transparenter Stoff. Der Begriff leitet sich von der französischen Stadt Tulle ab. So nennt auch Teresina Talarico ihr Künstlerbuch, in dem sie einen umfangreichen Bildessay vorlegt, der vor dem Hintergrund ihrer Reisen durch den Libanon entstand. Das Land im Schnittpunkt orientalischer und westlicher Kulturen zeichnet sie so „wie Bilder im menschlichen Gehirn zusammentreffen, simultan aufeinander prallen, und als Kettenreaktion eine Reihe neuer Bilder und Assoziationen hervorrufen“. Sie stellt Fragen nach dem Sehen, dem Assoziieren und Anordnen von Bildern, und den Überlagerungen von Bedeutungen sowie der Rolle der Sprache. Tulle is a tightly woven, almost transparent material. The term comes from the French city Tulle and is also the name of Teresina Talarico’s artist’s book, in which she presents an extensive pictorial essay inspired by her journeys through Lebanon. She portrays the country at the interface of Oriental and Western cultures “like images coming together in a human mind, simultaneously crashing into one another and evoking a series of new images and associations as a chain reaction”. She asks questions about the seeing, association and ordering of images, and the overlapping of meanings as well as the role of language.
