In this comprehensive examination, Michael Seibold critically analyzes the organization and implementation of Talent Identification and Development (TID) programs in tennis. He compares perspectives from key stakeholders—players, coaches, administrators, and parents—across four European countries. Utilizing a multi-disciplinary and comparative research design, Seibold employs both quantitative and qualitative strategies. His findings reveal significant discrepancies between TID theory and practice, suggesting that tennis may increasingly become a socially exclusive sport, primarily accessible to children from affluent families.
