In everyday communication, citizens, business partners, and politicians in Europe face language barriers. Language technology can help overcome these obstacles and provide innovative interfaces to technologies and knowledge. This document outlines a Strategic Research Agenda for Multilingual Europe 2020, prepared by META-NET, a European Network of Excellence comprising 60 research centers across 34 countries. META-NET collaborates with various stakeholders, including government agencies, research organizations, NGOs, language communities, and universities, with the vision of delivering high-quality language technology for all European languages.
