En savoir plus sur le livre
Lincoln Rhyme is back, pursuing a killer whose weapon instills fear throughout New York City. The invisible weapon is electricity, manipulated to create devastating arc flashes with such high voltage and heat that steel melts and victims are ignited. The first explosion, which obliterates a city bus, sparks fears of terrorism. Rhyme, a renowned forensic criminologist and quadriplegic, is called to lead the investigation. He teams up with NYPD detective Amelia Sachs, officer Ron Pulaski, and FBI agent Fred Dellray, who works undercover. As the attacks escalate and chilling demand letters surface, the team races against time with scant forensic evidence to identify the killer—or killers. Simultaneously, Rhyme is involved in another high-profile case in Mexico, targeting the elusive hired killer known as the Watchmaker, who has long evaded capture. Balancing these two intense investigations strains Rhyme's health, and his determination to continue working despite his limitations risks alienating his closest allies when he needs their support the most.
