This book offers a comprehensive analysis of the Czech reflexive clitic SE, exploring its complex syntactic phenomena and interrelated behaviors under the premise that SE occupies various argument positions in verbs. The theoretical framework is grounded in a contemporary version of Chomskyan generative grammar, specifically minimalism, along with Cardinaletti & Starke's theory of structural deficiency and Emonds' framework of multiple-level lexical insertion. The author posits that SE functions as a bare N projection with unspecified φ-features and lacks a case-feature, being inserted late in the syntax before Spell-Out.
