This collection features stories from my cycle tours in the Alps, undertaken alone and with friends across Switzerland, Italy, Slovenia, Germany, and Austria. My Giant XT 660, originally a mountain bike, was converted in 2010 into a touring cycle with slim tires and necessary gear for carrying baggage and lights. While heavier than a typical road bike, its disc brakes and resilience have served me well—though after my last tour, a shop informed me that all moving parts needed replacement. They noted I should be pleased that I wore the bike out rather than the other way around. Each tour is complemented by a specific theme, aiming to immerse readers in the rich histories of the places I cycled through. Cycling offers a deeper appreciation of the environment compared to cars or trains, fostering a connection with the surroundings. These accounts aim to bring the locations to life. The Alps serve as an exceptional playground for cyclists, offering stunning landscapes and cultural diversity, while also challenging one’s endurance. I've included maps of my routes for those inspired to follow in my tracks.
