En savoir plus sur le livre
In a rapidly destabilizing world, Andrea Winkler stages appropriated re-enactments of security devices like police cordons and museum barriers. These elements are transformed into intricate three-dimensional collages that alter the surrounding architecture and exhibition space, creating precarious and thought-provoking scenarios. Winkler juxtaposes marginal objects with these barriers, allowing them to interact with the environment and evoke strong emotions, leading to deviations from everyday experiences. The motif-constellations reflect deviations from the norm concerning accidents, highlighting the artist's strategy. She constructs a double-bind: the situations seem like mere images or mimetic models of reality, lacking actual function as art, yet they also reveal a real aesthetic system that enforces social regulations. This book features texts and engaging, sometimes humorous conversations with the artist, shedding light on her aesthetically disturbing and chaotic work. The exhibition took place at Galerie im Turm, Berlin, from March 17 to April 30, 2017.
