Psychology for Students

En savoir plus sur le livre

I have often been asked by my students about what constitutes normal or abnormal behavior and whether it can be measured. Analyzing behaviors across different cultures reveals that there is no universal scale for abnormality, especially when considering diverse populations. However, it is crucial to recognize when behavior disrupts our well-being or that of others. Urgent action is needed when individuals pose a danger to themselves or others. Another area of interest for my students is the darker side of psychology and crime. There is a pervasive fascination with psychopaths, serial killers, and mass murderers, fueled by media's insatiable appetite for such stories. My experiences in prisons and psychiatric institutions have provided rich insights into these unique cases. This curiosity about crime may stem from our desire for justice or a reflection of our own moral and ethical standards. Crime narratives are among the most popular forms of entertainment globally. Consequently, I have included a section on “Psychopaths,” a disorder that can escalate dangerously if unchecked. In my previous work, I explored the impact of such traits in leaders and their consequences for victims. This book serves as a collection of articles aimed at providing my students with a light yet informative understanding of this complex subject.
