The first scholarly monograph dedicated to artist Friedel Dzubas. Friedel Dzubas (1915-1994) was one of the strongest abstract painters of his time. There has for a long time been a need for a serious study of Dzubas's art, one that would be deeply researched, would throw new light on his formative experiences and intermittent crises, would understand his involvement with certain art of the past (in particular the great eighteenth-century master G.B. Tiepolo), be cognizant of the critical literature, and, most important, would give his highly original paintings the close and sustained attention they deserve.
