This directory is the first comprehensive listing of German-language newspapers, magazines, newsletters, and yearbooks published outside the German-speaking countries (Germany, Austria, Luxembourg, Liechtenstein, Switzerland) for tourists, business travelers, language students, and expatriates. Each publication includes details such as address, phone number, fax number, email, website, publisher, editorial management, advertising management, publication frequency, circulation, page count, founding year, and additional information. Authored by Björn Akstinat, known for his works on foreign-language publications in Germany and global German-language study programs, the directory is edited by a team including Julia Bittermann and Dr. Manfred Akstinat, and published by the International Media Aid (IMH) and the Federal Foreign Office. According to IMH, the number of German-language media abroad is steadily increasing, with new editorial offices emerging, particularly in Eastern Europe, where German minorities establish their own platforms. Additionally, German-language reading materials are increasingly available in tourist hotspots like Mallorca, Florida, and Thailand. More than 2,000 publications reach millions of readers daily, serving as vital cultural ambassadors for Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, with notable examples including "German World" in Los Angeles and "Prager Zeitung" in Prague.
