The workshop on “Self-X in Engineering Application” is devoted to the efforts to implement these methods in engineering applications in order to achieve the vision of intelligent and autonomous systems. The idea of the workshop originates in the Collaborative Research Centre 614 „Self-optimizing concepts and structures in mechanical engineering” (CRC 614), which works on the definition of a new school of development of technical systems. Thus, the focus workshop is not only on the implementation of smart algorithms, but also on the great challenge to envision and design systems with self-x properties.
