In-orbit versus ground testing - analysis framework for evaluation

An analysis-framework is presented, which allows for identification of ideal test strategies for space products, in particular for decisions between ground-based and in-orbit tests. The analyzed technology-product is described by a parametric model. Its projected application on a space mission, as well as common test practices are also defined by parameters. With these models and by application of the presented methods and rules, different test scenarios can be described, compared and evaluated. The analysis-framework is demonstrated and validated on the basis of three specific exemplary space products.
