The Prairie

Set shortly after the Louisiana Purchase, the story follows Ishmael and Esther Bush, who journey west with their fourteen children and companions, including the legendary Natty Bumppo. Their quest for safety leads to encounters with love, as Ellen, Esther's niece, finds herself torn between duty and passion for Paul Hover. Kidnapped by the Sioux and facing numerous challenges, including a raid on their camp, the group must navigate danger and betrayal while striving to establish a new home on the prairie.
