En savoir plus sur le livre

At just eight years old, Jodie is violent and aggressive, having cycled through numerous foster families. Her last chance lies with Cathy Glass, an experienced foster carer who reluctantly takes her in after being pressured by Social Services. Jodie's challenging behavior has led to five failed placements in just four months, and Cathy hopes to prevent her from being institutionalized. Upon arrival, Jodie immediately acts out, soiling herself and kicking Cathy's teenage children. That night, Cathy discovers Jodie covered in blood from a self-inflicted wrist cut. As Jodie begins to trust Cathy, her behavior improves, and she reveals the horrific abuse she suffered at the hands of her parents, who were part of a disturbing paedophile ring. Despite the signs being overlooked by neighbors and Social Services, Jodie becomes increasingly withdrawn and requires psychiatric therapy. Cathy advocates for her, but Social Services decides to remove Jodie and place her in a residential unit. While the investigation into the paedophile ring leads to justice, Jodie's future remains uncertain. Throughout it all, Cathy vows to support Jodie, demonstrating her unwavering love for the abandoned child.
