Set in 1953 Los Angeles, the story follows British journalist John Russell, who has distanced himself from espionage after a deal with a Soviet official. Living a comfortable life with his wife Effi and adopted daughter Rosa, Russell's world is disrupted when he becomes aware of being followed.
