The narrative follows Cambridge professor Horace Holly and his ward Leo Vincey on an adventurous quest to uncover a family mystery in a lost African kingdom. Sparked by a package left to Leo by his father, the duo discovers an ancient shard and documents hinting at their family's enigmatic past. Their expedition leads them to encounter a primitive tribe and the enigmatic white queen Ayesha, known as "She," who holds a powerful influence and a mysterious link to Leo, adding layers of intrigue and danger to their journey.
