En savoir plus sur le livre

In June 1957, a young socialite finds her glamorous summer in Southampton offers everything but what she truly desires. Everleigh “Lee” Farrows believes she has life figured out: a handsome fiancé, Roland, a trust fund, and a home in Bronxville waiting for her future family. However, her summer takes a turn when Roland surprises her with a beachside hotel on Gin Lane. Instead of joy, Lee is haunted by memories of the Plaza Hotel, where she grew up under the shadow of her mother’s mental illness. Determined to embrace her summer, she indulges in poolside Bellinis, tennis matches, and luncheons with her Manhattan friends, camera in hand. But tragedy strikes during the hotel’s opening weekend, forcing Lee to confront the cracks in her seemingly perfect life. As she navigates the vibrant yet tumultuous East End of Long Island, filled with both affluent New Yorkers and Bohemian artists, Lee embarks on a journey of self-discovery, questioning if the life she has always wanted will ever be enough. The changing American landscape of the late 1950s serves as the backdrop for her exploration of identity and fulfillment.
