En savoir plus sur le livre

Christy Rupp emerged as an American artist and activist in Manhattan in the late 1970s, using commodified materials to construct three-dimensional, sculptural works imbued with a dynamic vitality. This volume contains her recent sculptures and works on paper that visualize our postmodern, capitalist stage of the Anthropocene. Rupp is primarily concerned with human's perceptions of nature: where do the borders of the "natural" begin? Rupp's artwork aims to deconstruct the harsh division that separate humans and the environment, while addressing politics, culture, economics, ethics, and aesthetics as they impact the conditions of ecosystems. Explore Rupp's diverse portfolio of work from the second half of the twentieth century--inside is a rich compendium of animals sculpted from recycled materials or her captivating abstract compositions of urban ecology. Her sculptures and works on paper alike will have you pondering upon our engagement with the world of rampant consumption and destruction and how we may take action.
