The Verbier Art Summit serves as an international platform for nontransactional discourse, connecting thought leaders with key figures in the art world to foster innovative ideas and promote social change. This publication, the fourth in the Summit series, shares insights from the 2020 Summit, aiming to extend global dialogue on harmonizing art, ecology, and resources. Held from January 31 to February 1, 2020, in Verbier, Switzerland, and organized with museum director Jessica Morgan, the Summit explored how culture can progress during crises. Morgan emphasizes the importance of involving artists, designers, architects, engineers, and other thinkers in these discussions. The gathering in Verbier facilitated an in-depth dialogue on critical issues related to resources, land, and culture. The Summit's framework allowed for the exploration of diverse topics, including the history of land art, the environmental impact of art and institutions, and the interplay between real and imagined landscapes. Participants considered the future of art within the context of an ecological crisis, addressing the pressing need for a sustainable approach to cultural production and consumption.
