Eleanor Wilde has left her past as a sham medium behind for a quieter life in a small English town, where she offers herbal remedies. However, a trip to Brighton brings her past back to haunt her, along with a killer. While Eleanor is excited about her brother Liam's visit, she acknowledges their village lacks attractions. Although Castle Hartford, belonging to her boyfriend Nicholas's family, is nearby, even Nicholas's mother is eager to escape the heat for Brighton, taking Ellie and a relieved Liam along. Initially suspecting blackmail, Eleanor's concerns escalate when she and Liam witness a man being pushed from a boat by two shadowy figures who vanish. Though she doesn’t believe in ghosts or demons, the body they recover is all too real, as are the thefts plaguing their luxury hotel. Eleanor devises a plan that involves having Nicholas join them under a false identity. Their relationship grows more complex alongside the case, and Eleanor’s genuine supernatural abilities begin to manifest in unexpected ways. But whether the outcome will be favorable remains uncertain, even for someone with her talents.
