Samantha Rivas and her daughter Emily embark on a two month trip through Europe when Emily loses her job at a top NY magazine. Through no fault of their own, the mother and daughter become enmeshed in a would-be-murder linked to several murders that have stumped the Italian authorities for over 25 years. Unbeknownst to the women, the murderer is closer than they could ever imagine. Sam and Emily befriend several interesting people on the midnight train from Linz to Prague, among them an English socialite and her niece, and a member of the Carabinieri on a highly secretive mission. Once in Prague through their friendship with the Italian agent, the mother/daughter become the catalysts that help solve the decades-old murders and finally bring about justice.
