En savoir plus sur le livre

This open access book addresses the challenges of climate disruption while presenting viable solutions. It discusses issues such as air pollution, climate change, extreme weather, and health impacts, including heat stress, vector-borne diseases, food and water insecurity, chronic diseases, malnutrition, and mental well-being. Extensive evidence has established human influence on climate change, yet the links between climate change, planetary health, and human health have not been as thoroughly examined. The emerging global focus on the public health impacts of climate change is timely, as scientists have linked climate shifts to extreme weather events—floods, storms, heat waves, droughts, and fires—resulting in over 600,000 deaths and nearly 4 billion displacements in the past two decades. Previous research primarily utilized epidemiological methods, often neglecting multidisciplinary collaborations among physical scientists, public health experts, and policymakers, as well as faith-based and ethical perspectives. The solutions explored engage various sectors of civil society, faith leadership, and political figures, emphasizing ethics, advocacy, and policy, particularly for marginalized populations. The book aims to resonate with the public, faith leaders, researchers, students across disciplines, and policymakers.
