The Long Flight Home

Set against the backdrop of World War II, the story follows Susan Shepherd and her grandfather, Bertie, as they care for homing pigeons amidst the chaos of German bombings in Britain. Susan's bond with her favorite pigeon, Duchess, is central to her life. Meanwhile, Ollie Evans, a pilot joining the Royal Air Force, becomes close to Susan as they participate in a vital mission to drop pigeons in occupied France for intelligence purposes. Their friendship faces uncertainty when Ollie's plane is shot down, leaving their future together in doubt.
