En savoir plus sur le livre

Dave Robicheaux is a haunted man, grappling with memories from Vietnam, struggles with alcoholism, and the loss of his wife, Molly. His only solace comes from his role as a detective in New Iberia, Louisiana. In this capacity, he encounters mob boss Tony Nemo, who has a Civil War sword intended for local author Levon Broussard. While Tony claims the sword belongs to Levon’s ancestors, his true motive is to gain a share of Levon's lucrative film adaptations. Complicating matters is Jimmy Nightengale, a young man from New Orleans' elite, who admires Levon's work and is infatuated with Levon's wife, Rowena. Tony sees potential in Jimmy for a future in politics, believing he can help him become a US Senator. As tensions rise among these three men, a brutal assault occurs, prompting Robicheaux to investigate. The situation intensifies with the mysterious death of T.J. Dartez, linked to Molly’s demise, leading Robicheaux's colleague, Spade Labiche, to suspect him. Determined to clear his name, Robicheaux is aided by his daughter, Alafair, and his friend, Clete Purcel, as they delve deeper into the case, uncovering shocking truths along the way.
