Pictures in yellow, blue, and since the mid-1990s Detlef Beer (b. 1963) has been addressing the independent existence of primary colors, investigating their impact and how they are understood – independent of objective arrangements or even emotional aspects. Consequently works emerge in which Color Field Painting, Constructivism, and Informel coalesce. In Beer’s most recent works the panel painting is transferred to the wall, which likewise becomes the ground for painting. In this way, not only do the work and ground communicate with each other but also the forms of art and architecture.
