Wu Leichuan (1870-1944) was the last Christian with the Metropolitan degree in China and the first Chinese chancellor of Yenching University. This book studies his intellectual odyssey from Confucianism to Christianity and analyzes his interpretation of Christianity and his attempts to utilize them in saving China from disintegration. He was grounded in Confucianism and his understanding of the Christian faith as well as other foreign ideas was shaped by his Confucian heritage.
