This is the tale of the exciting adventures of a girl who saves the life of a baby chic from being sold. And raises it to be a prize winner. This story is all based on the interactions of the main characters and their relationship with God and each other. The book features a young girl who lives on a farm. She is a Junior member of the Grange. Her family raises chickens on a small agricultural farm. They raise roosters for market and hens in order to sell the eggs. This story explains how L'e (Elly)becomes friends with a small chic and how her relationship grows with it, all the way up to when it wins First Prize at the County Fair. The story also tells about the relationship between the chic and it's parents.
