En savoir plus sur le livre
In this beloved classic, three sisters—Pauline, Petrova, and Posy Fossil—each aspire to different dreams: Pauline yearns to be an actress, Petrova finds joy in cars and engines, and Posy wishes to dance all day. Their lives take a turn when their benefactor, Great-Uncle Matthew, disappears, leaving them to navigate a future filled with the challenges and excitement of the stage. The story is described as "really a fairy story with its feet half-way on the ground," capturing the blend of magic and reality. Noel Streatfield, born in Sussex in 1895, was one of three sisters herself. Despite being considered the plain one, she led a vibrant life, working in munitions during WWI before pursuing her passion for acting at RADA. She began writing children's books in 1931, with this title published in 1936, quickly becoming a favorite among readers. Streatfield's popularity was evident at Puffin exhibitions, where fans lined up to meet her. She was a pioneering figure, winning the Carnegie Medal and receiving an OBE in 1983. Streatfield spent her later years in London and passed away in 1986. Her legacy includes numerous other works, showcasing her talent and enduring appeal.
