"In June 2015, an undocumented transgender activist named Jennicet Gutiérrez staged a protest during President Obama's opening of LGBT Pride festivities at the White House. The event convened many prominent lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender activists and political leaders to celebrate what was expected to be a positive outcome in the Supreme Court case regarding the legal status of same-sex marriages.
