The first book in a new series is based on an unpublished memoir by Efronia Katchadourian (1894-1986), who was born in the Ottoman Empire, fled civil war in Lebanon for the US in 1976, and died in northern California when she was 92. Her writings were translated by her son; her daughter-in-law, Stina Katchadourian, wove into the memoir her own memories of her mother-in-law and provides historical background.
