Ex-best friends Tiwa and Said must collaborate to save their Islamic Center from demolition in this romantic tale of rekindling and rebuilding. Said Hossain, now at boarding school, returns to New Crosshaven for the funeral of his beloved librarian, Ms. Barnes, and to spend the summer. However, being home makes it difficult to avoid confronting Tiwa Olatunji, his ex-best friend, and the challenge of revealing to his Bangladeshi parents that he aspires to be an artist instead of a doctor. Tiwa is confused about why Said has distanced himself, likely due to his prestigious school. Despite his unexpected summer stay, she resolves to ignore him and focus on her own struggles, including grieving her fractured family and preparing for the upcoming Eid celebration at the Islamic Center, which holds deep significance for her. When a fire threatens the center and the mayor plans its demolition, tensions rise between the former friends.
