In a magical town, Aziza El-Amin, the sole hedgewitch of Blackthorn, Massachusetts, has dealt with various fae challenges, from rescuing tiny fairies to banishing shadows. However, when a dark entity emerges from the forest, the boundary between the human world and fairyland begins to dissolve, escalating fae mischief into dangerous aggression. Meanwhile, Leo Merritt, who lost all memories of his true love due to a dormant curse on his sixteenth birthday, has spent a year searching for answers. Desperate, he strikes a deal with Aziza: he will assist her on nightly patrols in exchange for her help in breaking his curse. As the creature in the woods targets them, they must enlist the aid of a mysterious young necromancer, whose trustworthiness is uncertain. Together, they face the new threat to their town, forcing them to confront hidden secrets and make significant sacrifices to reclaim their home.
