Set against the backdrop of Prohibition in 1928, the narrative follows Lou Browning, whose report of a hidden still triggers a tragic chain of events, resulting in her sister's death and threats to her family. The Browning family, marginalized and reliant on the goodwill of neighbors, faces escalating tensions in a struggling rural community.
