Focusing on the challenges of democracy and class dynamics in the Arab world, this research argues that active civic engagement can lead to democratic transformations. It emphasizes the significance of civil society within the Arab context and critiques the notion that autocratic rulers are weakening. Instead, it suggests that these regimes employ controlled liberalization strategies while maintaining their repressive power. The study ultimately explores how civil society can serve as a counterforce to persistent authoritarianism in the region.
