Exploring the contrasting perceptions of conservation, this study examines the views of Malagasy farmers near Masoala National Park and Swiss zoo visitors engaging with a mini-rainforest exhibit. It reveals a stark disconnect: the Malagasy narrative centers on power and history, while the Swiss perspective emphasizes morality and progress. Rather than fostering understanding, these differing stories highlight the widening gap between Northern and Southern communities, challenging the effectiveness of global conservation efforts in bridging cultural divides.
