Calcaneal lengthening in idiopathic flatfoot in children

The study evaluates the effectiveness of the EVANS technique for calcaneal lengthening in treating idiopathic flatfoot in children. Conducted at a Tunisian children's hospital, it involved 12 patients with a follow-up of at least one year. Results showed significant improvement in AOFAS scores, with 11 feet rated excellent post-surgery and 4 good. Radiological assessments indicated near-normal values, and all patients achieved bone consolidation. The findings suggest that using a peroneal graft can reduce morbidity compared to traditional iliac grafts.
