A critical appraisal of global innovation management literature: Is there really a "trend towards a global innovation network"?

Challenging the conventional static and MNC-centered perspective on international R&D, this seminar paper critiques the evolutionary model of R&D internationalization. It highlights numerous counter-examples that question the traditional centralization-decentralization dichotomy, advocating for a deeper examination of contingency effects and empirical phenomena. The paper uses China's economic emergence as a case study to illustrate these points, concluding that interdisciplinary theoretical concepts can offer a more nuanced analytical framework for understanding R&D developments.
